Thirteen. More. Pages.

I am still working my way through my printed-out manuscript, but the end is in sight. I have made it through 157 typed, single-spaced pages since early June and I only have 13 pages left to go!

What’s next? you ask….

The second I make it through those last thirteen pages, I’m going to drive myself to Office Depot (with my new alternator and battery which are being installed right now) and print out my manuscript in the handy “Read Mode” in Microsoft Word. That feature makes my writing look like an actual book – which I’m hoping will give me a little different perspective when giving it a quick once-over. My intention is to read it without a pen or pencil. I will allow myself only a highlighter with which to mark things that need attention later.

After I fix those highlighted spots, I’ll start formatting it for my beta-readers. My goal is to have my writing sent to everyone before I leave to go to Europe… a very short 20 days from now.

Then my beta-readers can read while I’m hanging out with the other travelers who saw Collette trips advertised during Wheel of Fortune.

My big, ultimate goal is to start querying agents before the end of the year.

In the meantime, though…. I’m am about to finish reading The Glass Castle for the third (maybe fourth…?) time. That book is most definitely in my top 5 favorite books and – AND… the movie comes out on Friday. Assuming I can keep myself from going to a matinee, Matt and I have a date with Jeannette Walls on Friday night.

Time to get back to those 13 pages – they’re not going to edit themselves.
